A Penal Code Applicable in Indonesia

The Criminal Code or the Criminal Code is a laws and regulations governing material criminal acts in Indonesia.

The Criminal Code that is now in force is the Criminal Code sourced from the Dutch colonial law, namely Wetboek van Strafrecht Voor Nederlandsch-Indie. The ratification was carried out through Staatsblad in 1915 Number 732 and came into force on January 1, 1918.

After independence, the Criminal Code is still applied accompanied by alignment in the form of revocation of articles that are no longer relevant. This is based on the transitional provisions of Article II of the 1945 Constitution which states that: "All state bodies and regulations that still exist are immediately implemented as long as they have not yet been held according to this Basic Law." This provision then became the legal basis for the enactment of all laws and regulations during the colonial period in the period of independence.
